Summer Self Care

Summer (and everyday really) is the best time to start taking better care of yourself! Honestly, every season or day of the week is the time to put yourself on your busy to do list. We’ve put together a list of ten ways you can give yourself the same love and respect that you give to others. Take advantage of summertime and sunshine with these ideas as soon as possible!

1. Relax Outdoors

Some of our schedules are more open in the summer, which means we can take time to relax under gorgeous weather! Grab a blanket, towel, or beach chair and head outside. You can set up under a tree or in a shady patch of sand, and then get your relaxation on! Whether you relax with reading, listening to music, or taking a nap, make sure to do it outdoors for the perfect summer self care.

2. Go for a Walk

If sitting down doesn’t help you relax, take yourself on a walk instead! Walking outdoors can help you clear your head and get your body moving. You can walk with a friend or on your own, but either way you get to enjoy a warm summer afternoon and get some exercise at the same time. So what are you waiting for?!

3. Tidy-up Small Spaces

We all have those drawers or shelves that just seem to fill with clutter, so help yourself feel better by cleaning it up! Even having one space clean and free of clutter helps all of us feel calmer. Take a moment this summer to clean up somewhere that gathers clutter, like your car, desk drawer, or kitchen counter. You’ll be glad you did!

4. Explore Your Local Farmer’s Market

Take advantage of the seasonal produce from local vendors by taking a trip to your local farmer’s market! This is a great way to try new foods, incorporate healthier options into your diet, and do something fun! Plus, there are loads of yummy treats there too!

5. Make a Summer Playlist

What better way to bring on the summer vibes than with a summer playlist?! Music is an easy way to improve your mood and motivate you to get moving. Listening to music while exercising or cleaning is always a bonus!

6. Have a Spa Day

Whether you do an at-home spa day or splurge to take yourself to a real spa, your body and mind will thank you! Taking a bubble bath, using a face mask, or treating yourself to a pedicure can all be affordable ways to help yourself feel cared for.

7. Reconnect with Someone

Summertime tends to be less busy for most, which makes it the perfect time to reach out to loved ones! Make a point to call an old friend or write a letter to a grandparent. No matter who it is, making a social connection of any kind will improve your mood and help make your relationships stronger!

8. Find Community Events

Look online for events going on around town! Summer events like outdoor movies, yard sales, festivals, concerts, etc. are often going on when the weather is so nice. Making fun plans will help you feel excited and give you something to look forward to!

9. Social Media Break

Taking a break from scrolling through your phone is a healthy way to meet your emotional and spiritual needs. You can take a break from social media portals or even put away your phone for a whole day! Either way, getting your mind and spirit away from blue light and constant connections will give you better awareness, improved sleep, and overall better well-being.

10. Dress to Feel Good

Instead of stressing about your appearance or size this year, put on that swimmer you love, rock those shorts, and spin around in that sundress this summer. Paired with a smile, your summer outfit will radiate the beauty inside!

Can we get started now?! Of course we can! We hope these self care ideas will help you take care of yourself this summer! Summer should be relaxing, fun, and refreshing so take advantage of the season to go with the flow but also prioritize yourself into the schedule. And let us know how you do it! We’d love to hear how your summer self care is going.
