How to Style Your Thrift Shop Finds

How to Style Your Thrift Shop Finds - Kortni Jeane
It’s National Thrift Shop Day! As we’re trying to shop more sustainably, we’re constantly thinking of ways to incorporate our thrift shop finds into our outfits. Whether you’re getting ready for a day on the beach or a seaside shopping excursion, these finds will help take your swimming style to the next level! The best part!? They’re inexpensive and help save the environment one outfit at a time! So let’s see what we’ve got:
Oversized button up
First thing’s first, this one is classic for a reason! It’s so simple to button over your swimmer, tie it in a knot or tuck it in at the waist, add some shorts (or don’t) and top it off with a brim hat. Easy, breezy! No really, it keeps you cool while protecting you from the sun. We've been loving neutral colors and pastels recently. Try snagging a cotton button up in stripes for a nautical look or opt for a textured one for a boho look. We’re currently loving simple textured cream or off-white button ups because they go with everything! You really can’t go wrong!
Silk Scarf
There’s so many fun colors and patterns to choose from! Snag a few options to tie around your favorite beach bag, wrap around your hat, or wear in your hair. Lately we’re obsessed with the bandana trend, so tie it like a 70’s queen and rock those retro vibes! Paired with a retro swimmer, you just can’t go wrong!
Coverups
The dress section always has a huge variety of options, so why not choose one to be your go-to swimsuit coverup? With the inexpensive price you won’t have to worry about getting your new dress dirty but can still have the convenience of a coverup. Everyone needs at least one in their life! Opt for a button down dress with long sleeves for sun coverage or a spaghetti strap linen dress to make all of your European dreams come true. You’ll be surprised at what you can find!
Oversized tee
It’s so simple, yet even the smallest tweaks take it to the next level. You can find a plethora of t-shirts at every thrift store, but what makes it a fav? Right now tie-dye is all the rage and we’re here for it! Or, for an edgier look try looking for a concert t-shirt, the older the era the better. Once you’ve chosen out some that match your style, cropping them is an easy way to take them to the next level. Or, you can choose to leave the t-shirt long and tie it in a knot at your natural waistline. Add in a bucket hat and chunky tennis shoes and you’ve got yourself a look!
Flowy Pants
Boho pants are a must for beach-side hanging! Look for flowy linen, cotten, or ribbed material. Remember, you can easily crop them yourself at home to fit your height. Paired with a Ruffled Around or Flutter top these can take you from dinner and shopping to the beach without any hassle.
Wrap Skirt
Did you know you can make your own swimsuit wrap with no sewing required? Simply cut it as long as desired and tie it on! There’s plenty of creative ways to tie them, from skirt to sarong, so don’t forget to give these a try! You’ll be rocking these styles all day long!
Denim cutoffs
It’s simple really. Finding jeans to cut off at the thrift store is one of the simplest beach outfits that never goes out of style. We’re currently loving high-waisted jeans to follow the lead of our high-waisted bottoms. Plus they pair perfectly with each of our crop tops. Win-wins all around! For a great tutorial on how to create good cutoffs, try this out!
