#theKJmindset - Kortni Jeane
If there’s anything in this world that we want for all of you, it’s happiness! From swimmers to summer to enjoying life, everyone deserves to feel happy! One huge thing that can really affect our happiness is our mindset, or the view we adopt for ourselves. Mindsets usually come from a young age and truly affect how we feel about success and failure, in our personal and professional lives. Today we want to look at how we can have a growth mindset {instead of a fixed mindset} with the five new outlooks we learned about on Instagram this past week.
.
One of the most beautiful things about this world is that everyone is different. We all have different talents, interests, temperaments, and everyone is capable of change + growth. And the craziest part? Our true potential is unknown! It’s an exciting mystery that we cannot wait to see unfold. So take a look at the five outlooks below, implement them in your life, and watch as you become the very best version of you!
.
EMBRACE CHALLENGES
Raise of hands if you love being lazy. 🙋🏼‍♀️ There’s something about snuggling up in your favorite blanket, with nothing to do but read or binge, that just feels good. And the good news is, there’s nothing wrong with that! The trick with a growth mindset is embracing challenges when they come and resting when they’re over! Having that growth mindset will help you thrive during some of the most challenging times in your life. It can be all too easy to avoid challenges or to see them as a negative thing to be avoided, but we want to challenge you to seek out experiences that will stretch you. You know the mantra: you grow best outside of comfort zones, so give yourself the space to embrace the challenges that do come your way! Choose to try harder things, remember that your strength is greater than any struggle, and then get back to your snuggly blanket when you’re done. Then do it all again when you’re ready!
PERSIST IN THE FACE OF SETBACKS
Have you ever been fired, rejected by someone, or even received a bad grade? What a setback! But did you give up entirely?! We seriously doubt it! Instead of giving up, you stuck with it especially when it wasn’t going well. One aspect of having a growth mindset is not getting discouraged by failure. In fact, a growth mindset says that you are learning, not failing! Choose to pick up something you haven’t finished over the years and take another whack at it. Choose to try and try again because you have the strength and ability to find a way to make it happen. You know the saying, Rome wasn’t built in a day. Failing is simply figuring out all the ways that didn’t work, and that doesn’t have to get you down. Remember, a goal is a personal promise to your future self, so don’t give up on you even when it’s not going well.
.
SEE EFFORT AS A PATH TO MASTERY
Good news! If you’re trying, you’re improving! Having a growth mindset means you’re all about developing yourself and jump at the chance to learn new things and become the very best you! We’re learning more and more that success happens when you work as hard as you can to become your best and that looks different for everyone! So whether you’re improving the way you talk to yourself, your work, your health, do what you can and don’t worry about what everyone else is doing. All things can be developed + mastered, whether it’s you, your work, your relationships, etc. Every part of your life is capable of growth and change. So when you make the effort to improve, remember that you’re doing it for you. You have all you need to make today a great day.
LEARN FROM CRITICISM
It can be so so so easy to ignore feedback, especially if it’s negative feedback. But did you know that negative feedback can be very useful? Truly listen to what others are saying and let information that will help you learn and improve soak in! Show interest in hearing the “right” answer if you were “wrong.” Seek out feedback from someone you trust if it’s about your habits, temperament, or personality traits. The trick with having a growth mindset is to make learning your priority. Have a passion for learning instead of the approval of others. Remember to learn from the advice you receive, and put away anything that just isn’t true. You know you best, so deep down you’ll know if feedback is useful or not. What you learn will help you improve all you do and say whether it’s in your personal or professional life.

FIND LESSONS + INSPIRATION IN THE SUCCESS OF OTHERS
Supporting another’s success will never ever dampen your own. In fact, we can learn a lot from the people that we see as being successful. Feeling threatened by the success of others is a part of having a fixed mindset, so if you’re looking to have a growth mindset, look up to these successful people for inspiration! How did they get there? Did they stretch themselves to become all that they are? Can you do the same? Think of someone who has inspired you and find the lessons in their example. Remember, what we dwell on is who we become, so be inspired in the success of others and watch yourself grow as a result.
Do you feel like you have a good feel for the #theKJmindset yet?? It’s been a fun week and we have learned lots about what it means to have a growth mindset. Our biggest hope is that by trying hard things, being persistent, always making an effort to improve, learning from feedback, and finding lessons in the success of others, we’ll all find a little more happiness in our lives. Learning is a necessary part of success and with a little bit of our KJ mindset we’re bound to accomplish even more! Go ahead and implement these tips and let us know below how it goes!
