We LOVE the holidays, but we also know that this time of year is often when we beat ourselves up the most. In particular, our bodies take some major hits during the holidays and we want to change that! Our thoughts control our actions, and you better believe that those negative thoughts about your body take a toll on your self-esteem. We don't want those weighing you down! This year we wrote a letter just for you, to help you feel more loved, more valued, and more fulfilled this season.
Can you feel the excitement in the air? Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s -- They’ll all be here before you know it! I can't wait to begin all of the holiday festivities and man oh man, we're going to make this the best year ever! Here's some of the many things I'm looking forward to:
This year, I’m excited to shamelessly dress up for Halloween because we deserve to have some fun!
This year I’m hoping to sneak some of the kids Halloween candy, because I know it brings back childhood memories.
This year, I want you to know that I’m grateful for how you hold me up, how you enable me to follow my dreams, and how you constantly heal me.
This year, when I pass a mirror I’ll tell you how smokin' hot you look, when I see you in the car reflection I’ll think about how you’ve carried me through my day, and when I try on new clothes I’ll remind you how beautiful you are inside AND out.
This year, if I eat too much Thanksgiving dinner and swear that, “I’m never going to eat again” - I don’t mean it one bit.
This year I promise to listen to what you’re telling me. When you tell me you’re hungry, I’ll honor that. When you tell me I’m full, I’ll stop (after maybe just one more bite of pie!) I also promise to honor your cravings, because the holidays are a special time and you don’t deserve to be punished for wanting all of those pumpkin goodies. After all, you are the expert, and that’s something I love about you!
This year, if you gain 5, 10, or even 20 pounds over Christmas break, I promise to still love you because I know you are always changing and that’s ok.
This year, I will focus on you as an instrument to my well-being rather than an ornament.
This year, I promise not to take your abilities for granted. You can walk, you can breathe, and you can create. You deserve to be celebrated!
This year, I promise not to use exercise as a punishment, but rather as a way to get you to your best, healthiest, and most capable self!
So, I hope that the holidays bring us more joy than ever this year. Take time to treat yourself, let your worries go, and enjoy this season to the fullest!!
