Inexpensive Fun!

Inexpensive Fun! - Kortni Jeane
The holiday months have come to an end and our new focuses of the year are in full force. One of those goals is to save more & spend less! So what can we do to entertain ourselves and kiddos while living a frugal lifestyle? This we know, it doesn’t have to be boring to be inexpensive! Check out these free or cheap things you can enjoy all year round!

MUSEUMS, AQUARIUMS, ZOOS

Many aquariums, museums, and zoos waive admission fees on certain days. Or they provide annual passes that are worth it after 3+ uses. Check out your local offerings and see if they have some free or discounted options for you, your significant other, or your kiddos.

READ

Although buying new books on the regular can cost $$, diving into a borrowed book or revisiting an old favorite is typically free! Reading improves concentration, reduces stress, exercises your brain, and is a cheap way to spend your free time. If nothing on your own bookshelf calls to you, head to the library, swap options with a friend, or check the used/sale sections at a local bookstore. Or find books online that are public domain to catch up on those classics.

PLAY GAMES

Maybe it’s time to pick up a game of basketball at the park or break out a board game when looking for inexpensive fun! If you’re looking into games that can be enjoyed inside, we recommend your favorite board games, puzzles, or a deck of cards. Or maybe video games are more your speed! But if the weather is nice, you can gather a group together for volleyball, baseball, kickball, spikeball, or anything else that is cheap or free.
.

WALK OR HIKE

One great way to have fun with little or zero cost is to get out of the house and enjoy the sites and sounds of the natural world. Stepping out for a stroll or a more challenging hike is a great way to pass the time and get your body moving. Check your county’s website for a list of parks and trails or just walk around your neighborhood with your tunes or a good podcast.

HOST A POTLUCK

When you love social gatherings but can’t afford all the food and beverages, invite your favorite people over for a potluck. You don’t even have to go all out! Organize a casual get-together with friends or neighbors. When you make it a potluck, you can have everyone bring a signature dish, their favorite snack, or some popular beverages. That will definitely ease the financial burden on you (the host) and make for a memorable social event.
.

DO SOMETHING PRODUCTIVE

Let’s be honest, we all have something we’ve been putting off. When you’re looking for inexpensive fun, set aside time to clean the house, finish that DIY project, or get other things in order. Whatever it is, it could be lots of fun and ideally won’t cost you a thing!
Whether you're relaxing or tapping into more outgoing activities, you don’t need to spend a fortune! With these free or cheap things you can enjoy all year round, you’re bound to save some extra cash. What other things do you entertain yourself with when you’re trying to save money?
